New African

The New African is an -monthly, English-language magazine based in London and Accra. It is aimed at an international audience and has been published since 1966. The New African is dedicated to focus on topics from the fields of politics, culture and economy of the African continent. According to the Journal 2005 250.000 readers were achieved with a circulation of 45,530 pieces monthly. 82% of the edition were sold in Africa.

The current editor is Baffour Ankomah.

The New African has a reputation for criticizing controversial African leaders such as Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe to or at the former President of Liberia, Charles Taylor, downplay or defend these men. Examples can be found in the issue of August / September 2008.
