New Democrat Coalition

The New Democrat Coalition is an alliance of politically moderate members of the Democratic Party in the United States. In the House, this group is organized as one of three major intra-party coalitions, Congressional Progressive Caucus, and next to the Blue Dog Coalition.

The New Democrat Coalition in the House of Representatives currently has 67 active members. The Coalition was founded in 1997 as an alliance of congressmen who were close to the centrist Democratic Leadership Council.

The New Democrat Coalition is composed of moderate and centrist Democratic Congressman. It is politically seen as the center of the Democratic party between the more conservative Blue Dog Coalition and the Congressional Progressive Caucus liberal- progressive. The New Democrat Coalition is aimed at economic growth and a fair distribution of which, a strong military and robust foreign policy.
