New Democratic Spirit

The New Democratic Wind (Albanian Fryma e Re Demokratike; Acronym: FRD ) is a political party in Albania. It was founded on 30 April 2012 and assigned to the political spectrum in the center-right one. Party chairman since its foundation Bamir Topi, the former President of Albania. History

2007 Bamir Topi was elected head of state in Albania. His term lasted only a legislature. In 2012 he was not re-elected (see presidential elections in Albania, 2012). His successor was Bujar Nishani. The reasons for deselection Topis lay in the political differences between him and the Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha. After a few years of his tenure, Topi appeared in public as an opponent of the policy of Berisha. So Topi blamed the Prime Minister for the dead of the protests in January 2011. Other allegations were made ​​against each other and more and more, the two politicians distanced from each other; they showed, for example, at official functions and ceremonies no longer together in public.

Even before the deselection Topis in June 2012 therefore established him like-minded party colleagues, among them Gazmend Oketa, April 30, in the Albanian capital Tirana, the New Democratic wind. In June, immediately stepped Topi at the party and the party structure was presented on November 14, 2012.
