New Glarus is a municipality ( with a status of "Village" ) in Green County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, New Glarus had 2172 inhabitants.

The community was named after the Swiss municipality of Glarus and founded in 1845 by immigrants from Glarus 150. It is also called " New Glarus ", according Glarus dialect. The place attracts many tourists. The community is also known for its restaurants with Swiss specialties.

Geography

New Glarus is located in south central Wisconsin, 38.3 km north of the border to Illinois. Located on the Mississippi intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois is located 111 km west-southwest.
