New Hope is a city in Hennepin County 1933-53 resulting in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located northwest of Minneapolis in the metropolitan region of the Twin Cities and has around 21,000 inhabitants.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of ​​the city is 13.6 square miles, of which 0.4 square miles of water.

History

Today's New Hope belonged until 1936 to the Crystal Lake Township. When they grew up in the 1930s, it should be converted into a city. However, this came especially for the rural population in the west of Chrystal on defense because they wanted to not pay taxes for the development of urban infrastructure. They split off and formed their own township called New Hope (Eng. " New Hope ").

However, this led to inconsistencies within the new township because the east, living on the border with Crystal population would benefit from the advantages of a city and therefore called for the inclusion in Crystal.
