New Mexico Symphony Orchestra

The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra was an American symphony orchestra, which existed from 1932 to 2011.

History

It arose from the Albuquerque Civic Symphony (ACS ), which for the first time in Albuquerque, New Mexico public appearance on 13 November 1932 the baton of Grace Thompson Edmister. Successor of Edminster 1941 William Kunkel, who was replaced in 1945 by Kurt Frederick. Under the direction of Kurt Frederick the world premiere of Arnold Schoenberg's work " A survivor from Warsaw " ( A Survivor from Warsaw) was held, which was to commemorate the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto. Frederick was succeeded in 1950 by Hans Lange. Lange came from Konstantin Opel, where his father Paul Lange had been Ottoman court music. Hans Lange himself had been an assistant to Arturo Toscanini and conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, before he took over the post in New Mexico. Unterlangenfeld the ACS was a " college " Amateur Orchestra in a professional orchestra, now the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra converted. Music Director since 2000, Guillermo Figueroa.

The American Robyn Schulkowsky, referred to as "the best drummer in the world", and now lives in Germany and works, was from 1977 to 1980 solo percussionist of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.
