Geography

Geographical Location

The town lies on the northwestern shore of Candlewood Lake. Through the soft image of the city lead three rivers: the Aspetuck River, the Still River and the Housatonic River.

Neighboring communities

The neighboring communities of New Milford's Northville are in the north ( 4 km), Roxbury in the East ( 6 km), Lanesville in the south ( 3 km) and Sherman in the west ( 5 km). The nearest large towns are Danbury in the south ( about 15 km as the crow flies) and Waterbury in the east (about 18 km).

History

The first occupation of the site took place in 1707; already on 17 December 1711 location than that of 12 families with a total of 70 people were officially registered as a village.
