New Ross

New Ross ( Irish: Ros Mhic Thriúin ) is a town in County Wexford in the south east of Ireland.

Traffic

New Ross is located on the River Barrow; the bridge over the river is named after Michael O'Hanrahan, one born in New Ross and executed after the 1916 Easter Rising freedom fighters.

New Ross is located on the N25 between Wexford and Waterford and is connected via the N30 Enniscorthy.

On the rail transport in Ireland New Ross is no longer connected; but the location of Ireland's only inland port, 32 km from the sea on the River Barrow lay. As almost everywhere in Ireland, most of the inter-regional passenger transport is handled by Bus Éireann.

In New Ross is the faithful replica of the Dunbrody of 1845, a three-masted barque, brought their original 1845-1851 during the Great Famine in Ireland emigrants to Canada and the United States.

In Dunganstown six kilometers south of New Ross, is the Irish headquarters of the Kennedy family, from which set off a Patrick Kennedy to America during the Great Famine.
