New World Pasta

The American company New World Pasta is one of the leading pasta manufacturer based in Harrisburg ( Pennsylvania). Since 2006, the company is one of Ebro Puleva.

Is produced in the USA in Fresno (California ), St. Louis ( Missouri) and Winchester (Virginia) and in Canada in Montreal.

History

New World Pasta took over in 1998 by the Hershey Foods Corporation whose pasta division with the brands Ronzoni and San Giorgio, for 450 million dollars. In early fall 2001 New World Pasta has announced that 227 jobs will be lost. The production sites in Lebanon (Pennsylvania) and in Omaha were closed on 31 March 2002.

In 2001, for $ 43.1 million, the acquisition of the pasta division of Borden Foods Corporation, which had a turnover of 210 million dollars in 2000, implemented. The division produced with 1,000 employees at six locations ( two each in Canada, Italy and the USA).

2004 New World Pasta had to be placed under the protective mantle of Chapter 11 of the U.S. bankruptcy law. The investment company JLL Partners held at this time 80 % of the share capital.

Since 9 June 2006 New World Pasta is a subsidiary of Ebro Foods SA. Thus, the turnover of Ebro Puleva in North America grew to over 600 million dollars. At this time, New World Pasta had a market share of 28.5 % in the U.S. and 40.9 % in Canada. New World Pasta achieved sales of nearly $ 304 million in 2005.

In December 2011, New World Pasta acquired the brands No Yolks and Wacky Mac Power Products of the company for $ 50 million. The two brands had been brought to market in 1976. No Yolks appeals to the health conscious buyer and has a market share of 15.6 % in the United States and 29.4 % in Canada. Wacky Mac is more for the " trendy " buyer, the products are available in different colors. Together, the brands achieved 2011 sales of $ 37.5 million. The purchase was completed on 31 December 2011.
