New York Americans

The New York Americans were a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League ( NHL).

History

Originally, the team played in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada under the name Quebec Bulldogs, after which it moved to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Hamilton, where he played as a tiger. In 1925 the company moved to New York City, where the team until 1941 was beheimat as New York Americans. In the season 1941/42, it took the name Brooklyn Americans, although the team never played in Brooklyn. It was hoped to be able to distinguish so by the New York Rangers and find supporters among the residents of Brooklyn. The plan failed and the team was disbanded in 1942.

NHL Awards and All-Star Team nominations

Billy Burch came with the Hamilton Tigers, where he was the only award winner. Even with the Americans, he was awarded the first of a personal distinction. A year later Roy Worters won the Hart Memorial Trophy, 1931, he also won the Vezina Trophy. Sweeney Schriner was the best rookie in 1935, another trophy remains denied him because the best scorer was then not yet awarded the Art Ross Trophy. Twice he led at deb scorer points in the league. In 1937, he was equal to one of three players who were elected ind Second All-Star Team.
