New York State Route 17B

New York State Route 17B is a state highway, whose course lies entirely within the Sullivan counties in New York. It begins in Callicoon at the western end of the trail and ends just north of Monticello in the east at the intersection with the New York State Route 17

Route description

From endpoint to the intersection with New York State Route 97 State Route 17B rises along a winding course from the valley of the Delaware River, just like the other State Routes in this sparsely populated corner of the state of New York. New York State Route 52A, the first other State Route, with the NY 17B meets, branches after eight kilometers to the north. New York State Route 52 is a bit further connects NY 17B. History

Between Fosterdale and Monticello follows State Route 17B of the route of the old Newburgh - Cochecton Turnpike, the elsewhere today, the State Route 17 follows and, something new at Newburgh, New York State Route 17K.

NY 17B was set at the 1930 renumbering of state Routes between Monticello and Callicoon and on the route of what is now New York State Route 97 between Callicoon and Hancock. The track was circumcised 1938-1946 to its current western terminus.
