New York State Route 215

New York State Route 215 (NY 215 ) is a running in a north-south direction State Route whose routes lie exclusively within the Cortland County. It has a length of about ten kilometers, extending from the intersection with NY 392 in Virgil the intersection with NY 13 in Cortland. NY 215 is largely a rural link road, except the last 800 m in Cortland. The entire route of NY 215 was originally part of New York State Route 90 in the early 1980s its junction with U.S. Highway 11 ( U.S. 11 ) in the Village of Homer was the NY 90 north deleted. The earlier route south of it was as NY 215 and NY 392 dedicated, and in some places there are even reference marks as NY -90.

Route description

NY 215 begins at the intersection with NY 392 in the hamlet of Virgil within the same Town. NY 392 runs from the south into this intersection and exits to the east, while NY 215 northbound and makes its way parallel to Virgil Creek through the rural and hilly area of the Town. Virgil Creek originates just south of the border with the Town of Cortlandville; NY 215 continues up to the ridge and then descend to Cortlandville into it, with a far-reaching city on the City of Cortland, the surrounding valley of Tioughnioga River, where the city and the nearby Village of Homer.

The route reaches the valley floor and passes a section with some buildings just outside the city limits, it is the first closest to the street buildings to the north. The building is in Cortland then dense, and the street is named Owego Street. NY 215 as such, leads to the intersection with the Tompkins Street, where the route ends at NY 13. This crossing is about 400 m southwest of Downtown Cortlands and about 800 m southeast of the campus of the State University of New York at Cortland. NY 215 is maintained between NY 392 and the city limits Cortlands the New York State Department of Transportation ( NYSDOT ), the remaining portion north of the city limits is subject to the City administration.

History

The north-south highway, which connects Cortland Virgil with a part of NY, was originally 90 This route has been restated in the renumbering of State Routes in New York between 1930 Messenger Ville in the south and about Montezuma Virgil and Cortland. On April 1, 1981, the property and the maintenance obligation imposed on a route between NY 90 in Virgil and the Countygrenze between Tompkins County and Cortland County Cortland County from the State of New York has been transferred. After transmission, the NY 90 south of the intersection was closed down with the U.S. 11 in the Village of Homer north of Cortland. The former course of NY 90 between Virgil and Cortland was re- dedicated as NY 215, while the section Virgil Messenger Ville become part of NY was 392 which extends westward into Tompkins County.
