New York Yanks

The New York Bulldogs were an American football team that played in the National Football League ( NFL).

Team History

The Bulldogs City were founded in 1949 in New York. They wore their home games in the Polo Grounds. Still in its first year the Bulldogs quarterback Bobby Layne could bind to the club. In order to have the rights to Layne, however, they were forced to the former club of Layne, the Chicago Bears to pay $ 50,000. In addition, they had to give two first-round draft rights to the team from Chicago. The first season was not successful for the Bulldogs. They could only win one of 12 games and were the worst team in the NFL.

In 1950, the Bulldogs were renamed New York Yanks. From then on, the team wore its home games at Yankee Stadium. Layne had left the club to the Detroit Lions and George Ratterman, who had come from the Buffalo Bills, could take his place. The Yanks were able to other players the Bills, who had set the game mode after the 1949 season, tying the club. In addition, they succeeded the obligation of the later members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Art Donovan and Mike McCormack. The Yanks then succeeded in the 1951 season again just one win. After this round the team was bought by an investor group from Dallas and renamed Dallas Texans.
