The New York Lions, up to and including the GFL season 2010 Braunschweig Lions are an American football team of 1 FFC Brunswick. They play since the 1994 season without interruption in the German Football League and are eight German Bowl victories German record champions.

History

The Braunschweig winning streak stopped in the 2009 season, when the Lions with only three wins in the regular season, the playoffs for the first time in 14 years could not reach. Name change

After the last season 2010 it was announced by the club that due to the license conditions of the GFL from the 2011 season, a new marketing company will lead the economic fortunes of the " Lions ". During the weeks of negotiations between the previous and the new marketing company, no agreement on the purchase of the brand Braunschweig Lions could be achieved, so that the renaming of the team was necessary.

For the season 2011 and 2012, the first resident of Brunswick gym Hygia was recovered as a title sponsor. In March 2011, the leaders of the 1st FFC Brunswick announced then that the Braunschweiger fashion company New Yorker, which supports the Lions since 1988 as a sponsor, was now also won as the new title sponsor.
