Newark [ nu ː ɚk ] (also New Worke ) is a city in the U.S. state of Delaware, United States, with 31 454 inhabitants ( 2010 census ), 15 km west of Wilmington ( Delaware). Newark is home to the University of Delaware, the largest university in the state of Delaware.
In addition to major companies such as DuPont and WL Gore & Associates existed until the end of 2008 a Chrysler car factory, the Newark Assembly plant in which, for example, the popular Dodge Durango SUVs were prepared. This was closed in late 2008 as part of the restructuring measures at Chrysler, where last 1100 jobs were lost.
