Newell A. George

Newell Adolphus George (* September 24 1904 in Kansas City, Missouri; † 22 October 1992 in Kansas City, Kansas ) was an American politician. Between 1959 and 1961 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Newell attended the public schools in Kansas City (Kansas ), the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington (Missouri ) and the Park College in Parkville (Missouri ). He then studied at the Law Faculty of the University of Kansas City and at the National University in Washington law. In 1935, he was admitted to Washington and in 1941 in Kansas as a lawyer. Then he began to work in his new profession in Kansas City (Kansas ).

Politically, George member of the Democratic Party. In the years 1933 and 1934 he worked on the staff of U.S. Senator George McGill. From 1941 to 1945 he was attorney for the job-creation authority (Office of Employment Security). At the same time, he was legal adviser of the meeting called for the war effort Commission for the Defense Acquisition ( War Manpower Commission ). Between 1947 and 1953, George worked for the Social Security of the Federal Government. After that, he was from 1953 to 1958 employees of the district attorney in Wyandotte County, Kansas. In 1960 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, on the John F. Kennedy was nominated as presidential candidate of the party.

In the congressional elections of 1958, George was elected in the second district of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington. There he came into effect on January 3, 1959 the successor of Errett P. Scrivner of the Republican Party. Since he was not confirmed in 1960, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1961. Between 1961 and 1968 George was Attorney for the District of Kansas. He spent his life in Kansas City (Kansas ), where he died in 1992.
