Newfoundland outport

Outport called a remote coastal community in the eastern Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Generally

Outports are one of the oldest European settlements in Canada. Many outports were inhabited between the 16th and the 19th century by Portuguese, Spanish, French and English fishermen and whalers. They typically consist of anonymous wooden houses and fishermen's cottages.

Due to inaccessibility and fishing bans the depopulation of the outports stops, especially due to the urbanization of young people.
