Newmarket Royals

The Newmarket Royals were a Canadian ice hockey team from Newmarket, Ontario. The team played from 1992 to 1994 in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League ( OHL ).

History

The Cornwall Royals in 1992 from Cornwall, Ontario, Newmarket, Ontario, relocated and renamed Newmarket Royals.

In its first season, the Royals reached the fifth place in their division and qualified for the playoffs so immediately, where they were subject to the Sudbury Wolves in the best- of-seven series in seven games. In the 1993/94 season was both Newmarket Division Last, and Last in the entire Ontario Hockey League. With just nine wins and a total of 28 points in 66 games, the team had even on the penultimate 18 points behind. In addition, the Newmarket Royals broke a negative record, which has still existed. As the only team in the entire Canadian Hockey League, they finished a season without a single win away.

After only two years, the franchise was sold in 1994 to the brothers Robert and Dino Ciccarelli, which to her hometown to Sarnia, Ontario, umgesiedeltem, where, under the name Sarnia Sting has since been active in the OHL.
