Newport Beach California Temple

The Newport Beach California Temple (English Newport Beach California Temple ) is the 122nd temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is located in Corona del Mar, a district of Newport Beach in California.

The Newport Beach California Temple was announced on April 21, 2001 and consecrated on 28 August 2005 by Gordon B. Hinckley. The temple is now the sixth sanctuary of the church in the state of California. He is in the style of Spanish Kolonialarchitktur. The total area of the building is 1,650 square feet. The tower has a height of 27 meters. On the top of the dome stands a statue of the angel Moroni and prophets.

Because of residents protest the plans of the Newport Beach California Temple were changed before completion. In contrast to the white marble originally planned a darker shade was chosen. The tower height is reduced from 38 to 27 meters. The exterior lights will go out at night around 23 clock.

In the immediate vicinity of the building are the University of California at Irvine and the posh shopping center Fashion Iceland.
