Newport is a town in Lincoln County in the U.S. state of Oregon on the Pacific coast. The city was founded in 1882 has 9532 inhabitants ( 2000) on an area of 27 km ². Newport is the county seat of Lincoln County and lives mainly from tourism.

The place is home to the Oregon Coast Aquarium a large Aquazoo and the Hatfield Marine Science Center which is part of an Oceanographic Research Institute and Aquarium of Oregon State University. The town lies at the mouth of the Yaquina River flows into the Pacific Ocean at the south end of the Yaquina Bay. Here is located in Yaquina Bay State Park, the historic Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. About five kilometers north is the Yaquina Head Peninsula on the Lighthouse Yaquina Head Lighthouse stands. Significant points of the city is the Yaquina Bay Bridge over the Yaquina River.
