NewsRadio

NewsRadio is an American sitcom that was developed by Paul Simms and aired first from 1995 to 1999 on NBC.

Action

The series takes place in WNYX, a fictional New York radio news station, and begins with Dave Nelson is set as the new news director. He must bring the eccentric characters of the employee and his employer under a hat.

The dialogues at NewsRadio run at high speeds and are often absurd. It has often been resorted to visual gags as a counterweight to the intelligent and often political dialogues. The series creator Paul Simms said that it is the target audience of the series to over -30 -year-old with a university degree.

The extreme absurdity and futility was reinforced again in the finals of the third and fourth season. In these the characters were not the usual venue, a modern office in New York, but first in space and then on board the Titanic.

Production

  • The filming of the series have been set for a long time for the murder of actor Phil Hartman. The other actors need time to process their grief. From episode 76 of the character played by Hartman Bill McNeal no longer appears. The series was but continued.
  • The series was to be discontinued in any season on the verge of NBC.

Publication

  • From 1999 to 2001, the series was aired on RTL 2 and September 2005 to June 2006 to NICK comedy. Since 15 January 2007, the series was broadcast on Comedy Central.
  • Between 2005 and 2007, Sony has released all five seasons on DVD for Region 1. So far, Sony has not yet ruled on a publication for the German market.

Special features / backgrounds

  • In the pilot episode Greg Lee played the role of the electrician and the name of this character was in this episode, even Rick. He was later to Ted Garelli hot. The role should be played in the series of Ray Romano. But he then canceled because it was offered in another sitcom starring. This was called Everybody Loves Raymond ( in German speaking countries as Everybody Loves Raymond known) and was first aired in 1996. Instead of Ray Romano, the role of Joe Rogan was occupied. The makers of the series found it easier to give the character the same name as his actors, from Ted Garelli So was Joe Garelli.
  • In the pilot episode played the role of Catherine Duke Ella Joyce. In all later episodes she is played by Khandi Alexander.
  • Maura Tierney was added until the day before the pilot episode was filmed for the occupation.

Trivia

  • Some episodes are named after the band's albums Led Zeppelin, even if the name of this album has nothing to do with the content of the episode.
  • In the opening credits Dave Foley's name will be shown next to a photo of the World Trade Center in New York. The two towers had the nickname and Dave Nelson. The character plays the Foley called Dave Nelson. The show's creator, Paul Simms says that this is a coincidence.
  • The space, which is the production studio in the pilot episode is, for the rest of the series the break room (except in episode 4).
  • Dave Foley is just like his character Dave Nelson love the sitcom Green Acres and drink several cups of coffee daily.
