Next (group)

Next is an American R & B band, consisting of the founding members RL Huggar and Terry Brown.

History

Next was founded in 1996 by RL Huggar and the brothers Terry Brown and Raphael. They were brought together by the uncle of the Browns, who had a gospel choir director. They began to appear under the name Straight4ward. The band was a time of Ann Nesby, a member of the group Sounds of Blackness, trained and organized.

Next were from Minnesota producer and DJ artist Kaygee, a member of the group Naughty by Nature discovered in her hometown of Minneapolis. They signed a recording contract with record label Divine Mill KayGees and later with Arista Records.

With their debut single Butta Love they made it right off the bat in the top 20 on the U.S. charts. With Too Close it could follow a hit, which brought it not only No. 1 in her home country, but also internationally well-placed in the charts. The third single from the double platinum album Rated Next titled I Still Love You reached the Top 20 with their second album Welcome II Nextasy they could in 2000 initially build on the success, the single reached number 7 Wifey was then allowed however, the interest of more and more for them and another hit parade success was no longer possible.

2001 coverte the British boy band Blue their hit Too Close and took him to the UK at # 1 on the charts.
