The NextEra Energy, Inc. ( until May 2010, FPL Group, Inc.) is a 500 listed on the S & P American energy company with headquarters in Juno Beach, Florida. Its history dates back to the year 1925.

NextEra Energy operates through three subsidiaries in 27 U.S. states and claims to be a leader in solar and wind energy in the United States.

Overall, 8.7 million people are supplied on the east coast and Florida with electricity. The total power generating capacity of 37,500 megawatts.

History

On 20 June 2005 the company acquired Gexa Energy FPL from Houston, Texas.

In May 2010, it was renamed NextEra Energy, Inc.

FPL is the operator of the Solar Energy Generating Systems in California.

Wind turbines

In addition, FPL is among the largest owners of wind turbines worldwide. The company owns 47 wind farms in 15 U.S. states with a capacity of 4,002 megawatts. This capacity is sufficient to supply around one million average U.S. households. Since July 2005, FPL has installed more about 880 megawatts of wind energy in the United States and has another 220 megawatts under construction. In Taylor County, Texas, operates the Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center, the largest wind farm in the United States.
