Nez Perce County, Idaho
Nez Perce County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lewiston.
Geography
The County is located in northwestern Idaho, bordered on the west both at Oregon and at Washington and has an area of 2,218 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Latah County, Clearwater County, Lewis County and Idaho County.
History
Nez Perce County was formed on February 4, 1864 as one of the four original counties. It was named after the Indian tribe of the Nez Percé, in the traditional settlement area it is located. The first white men who entered this area in 1805 were Lewis and Clark Today Countygrenzen have not been changed since 1911.

According to the census in 2000 lived in the Nez Perce County 37 410 people in 15,286 households and 10,149 families. The population density was 17 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 91.58 percent White, 0.28 percent African American, 5.31 percent Native American, 0.65 percent Asian, 0.07 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 0.50 percent from other races groups; 1.60 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.93 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 15,286 households out of which 29.0 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 52.8 percent were married couples living together. 9.3 percent were single mothers and 33.6 percent were non-families. 26.7 percent of all households and 11.3 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.90 persons.
23.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 10.0 percent 18-24 Years, 26.7 percent between 25 and 44, 23.0 percent between 45 and 64 years. 16.5 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 96.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 93.8 males.
The median household income was 36,282 dollars, and the median income for a family $ 44,212. Males had a median income of $ 34,688, women $ 23,014. The per capita income was $ 18,544. 8.6 percent of families and 12.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
