Nez Perce County, Idaho

Nez Perce County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lewiston.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern Idaho, bordered on the west both at Oregon and at Washington and has an area of 2,218 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Latah County, Clearwater County, Lewis County and Idaho County.

History

Nez Perce County was formed on February 4, 1864 as one of the four original counties. It was named after the Indian tribe of the Nez Percé, in the traditional settlement area it is located.
