Nezar Hindawi

Nezar al - Mansur al - Nawwaf Hindawi (Arabic نزار نواف منصور الهنداوي, DMG Nizar al - Hindawi Nauwāf Mansur, born 1954 ) is a Jordanian terrorist who on 17 April 1986 at the luggage of his pregnant girlfriend Ann Murphy without their knowledge, a hidden bomb with a time fuse. During an inspection at Heathrow airport the bomb was discovered and could be defused. At the time of the planned explosion, the aircraft would have been over Austria. The aircraft belonged to the Israeli airline El Al.

The incident became known as the Hindawi Affair particularly in the British press. It came to the severance of diplomatic relations between Britain and Syria. Nezar Hindawi was sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Today, his then girlfriend lives with her born after the failed assassination attempt daughter in Ireland.
