NForce 600

NForce 600 is a family of PC chipsets the company Nvidia for AMD AMD K8, AMD K9 and K10 processors as well as Intel's Pentium 4 / D, Celeron / D and Core 2 processors.

AMD K8/K9/K10-Serie

The chip sets this series are suitable for all processors in the AMD K8, AMD K9 and AMD K10 series.

Development

The nForce 600a Series for AMD is a revised version of the nForce 500a series.

Models

There are the following options:

  • NForce 630a
  • NForce 680a SLI

The nForce 630a has an integrated graphics unit. Since two different graphic units are used, this variant divided again into two different models. The nForce 630a chipset is considered one of the most economical and most successful chipsets his time. He is now being produced for almost 7 years and is still compatible with current processors (October 2013).

The nForce 680a SLI is designed specifically for AMD Quad FX and offers four PEG slots. The chipset itself consists of two full-fledged nForce 570 SLI chipsets and accordingly offers a wealth of ports and PCIe lanes.

The improvements include the memory controller (which was accelerated to DDR2 -800) and the integrated sound function ( now consistently HDA). Furthermore, the front side bus was at least 266 MHz ( quad-pumped, FSB1066 ) accelerated. Also there is now a version that does not support SLI. The 680i SLI also supports a third PCIe x16 slot ( tied with 8 lanes), which allows the use of a third graphics card as a physics accelerator. In addition, this version supports a FSB speed of 333 MHz ( quad-pumped, FSB1333 ).
