NGC 188

NGC 188 is the designation of an open cluster in the constellation Cepheus. He has over five billion years one of the oldest open clusters in the Milky Way. The cluster consists of about 5000 stars.

Discovery

The open cluster NGC 188 was discovered on November 3, 1831 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel and added to its catalog two years later by him.
