NGC 6559 is an approximately 5000 light years distant nebula in the constellation Sagittarius. The nebula was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel with his 48 cm telescope in 1826. It includes glowing red emission nebula consisting of hydrogen, the light emmi benefits on the Hα line, bluish reflection nebulae that are illuminated by young stars, and dark clouds of cold molecules and dust.
