Ngozi Province

Ngozi is a province of Burundi. It lies in the north of the country, bordering Rwanda. Its capital is also called Ngozi.

2007 Ngozi has about 749,000 inhabitants.

Ngozi is divided into nine districts ( communes) Busiga, Gashikanwa, Kiremba, Marangara, Mwumba, Ngozi Nyamurenza, Ruhogoro and Tangara.

Economy

Agriculture in the area is the cultivation of coffee, bananas, cassava, sweet potatoes, beans and corn, and livestock is operated. Cassiterite ( tin ore ) is mined and processed tea.

The end of 2006 it was reported that prevails in Ngozi hunger. 79 people had died of the consequences, hundreds have fled to Rwanda or Tanzania.
