Nia Vardalos

Antonia Eugenia " Nia " Vardalos (Greek: Αντωνία Ευγενία " Νία " Βαρδάλου ) (* September 24, 1962 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Greek- Canadian actress.

Life and work

Vardalos ' career as actress began in the 1990s. In her first film, No Experience Necessary, she played in 1996. From the late 1990s, she appeared in numerous television series with as an actress. She was known for her starring role in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding - Wedding in Greek, for which she also wrote the autobiographical script. For the film, it was founded in 2003 in the category Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen nominated for an Oscar. She played the lead role in the eponymous comedy series. In the comedy Connie and Carla (2004), she took alongside Toni Collette one of the main roles, she also wrote the screenplay.

For the film, Larry Crowne (2011), she wrote the screenplay with Tom Hanks.

Private life

Since 1993 she has been married to actor Ian Gomez.
