Niagara Falls Thunder

Niagara Falls Thunder was a Canadian ice hockey team from Niagara Falls, Ontario. The team played from 1988 to 1996 in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League ( OHL ).

History

The Hamilton Steel Hawks in 1988 from Hamilton, Ontario, to Niagara Falls, Ontario, relocated and renamed Niagara Falls Thunder. Already in its first season, the team reached the final of the J. Ross Robertson Cup, where they lost to the Peterborough Petes with 2:4 victories. On this success, the team was able to initially build and reached three times in a row the playoff semifinals. Afterwards, however, Niagara Falls came out no longer about the playoff quarterfinals and missed in the season 1993/94 even the playoffs.

After eight years, the franchise was in 1996 in the U.S. Erie, Pennsylvania, resettled, where, under the name Erie Otters has since been active in the OHL.
