Nibionno

Nibionno is a municipality in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy with 3670 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Nibionno is about 15 km southwest of the provincial capital of Lecco and 30 km north of the metropolis of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Bulciago, Cassago Brianza, Costa Masnaga, Inverigo (CO), Lambrugo (CO) and Veduggio con Colzano (MB).

Nibonno consists of the main places Tabiano and Cibrone and the smaller hamlets of California, Gaggio, Molino Nuovo and Mongodio. In Tabiago it houses the local offices.

History

The name Nibionno could come from " Neblus ", Medieval Latin for Bach. The first mention of Nibionno dates from the year 848, in which a Pieve was built in the location of a Incino and in vico et fundi Nebioni ' is mentioned. 1440 local chapter of Nibionno (, Squadra di Nibionno ') in the Duchy of Milan was founded, which existed until the 18th century. 1569 a parish was founded.

The location in the center of the Brianza was formed in 1992 by the Province of Como on the province of Lecco.
