Nicesipolis

Nikesipolis (Greek Νικησίπολις ) was a wife of King Philip II of Macedon and mother of Thessalonica († 295 BC).

Nikesipolis came from Pherae in Thessaly, and was probably a member of the tyrant Jason family. The date of her marriage to Philip II is unknown, but the name of her daughter gives an indication on a military victory of Philip II in Thessaly, whereupon the marriage may have been closed as a result of a peace treaty. The history of science is therefore situates the marriage circuit between the years 350 and 345 BC, and because Philip II was married by this time with Olympias, Nikesipolis might have been those mentioned by Plutarch " Thessalian woman," which aroused the jealousy of the Olympias.
