Nicholas Browne

Sir Nicholas Browne Walker KBE (2002), CMG ( born December 17, 1947 in West Malling, Kent; † January 13, 2014 ) was a British diplomat.

Life

Nicholas Walker Browne in London. In 1969 he joined the Foreign Service was in the Department of North America FCO Secretary third class and married Diana Marise Aldwinckle. They have a daughter, Jeremy Browne. From 1970 to 1971 he studied languages. From 1971 to 1975 he was employed at the embassy in Tehran, then to 1976 he was in the Department of South Asia in the FCO operates. From 1976 to 1980 he was employed by the Cabinet, after which he served until 1981 in Salisbury as Secretary first class and head of the consular section. From 1984 to 1989 he was employed by the British representation in Brussels. In 1989 he was charge d'affaires in Tehran, Ruhollah Khomeini as on February 14, uttered a fatwa against Salman Rushdie, which led to his dismissal. From 1990 to 1994, he was Counsellor in Washington, DC and directed in New York City, the British Information Service, thereafter until 1997, the Middle Eastern Department in the FCO. From 1997 to 2001 he was charge d'affaires in Tehran. From 2001 to 2002 he taught at the Royal College of Defence Studies. From 2003 to 2006 he was ambassador in Copenhagen.
