Nicholas Henderson

Sir John Nicholas Henderson GCMG, KCVO (* April 1, 1919; † 16 March 2009) was a British diplomat and author.

Henderson, son of Hubert Douglas Henderson political economist, was educated at Stowe School and then attended Hertford College at Oxford University.

1946 Henderson joined the Diplomatic Service; there he worked in the international and domestic. In 1963 he became private secretary to the British Foreign Secretary George Brown. From 1965 he served as Ambassador to Spain, Poland ( 1969-1972 ), Germany ( 1972-1975 ) and France ( 1975-1979 ) worked. In 1979, he asked for his release, but served as ambassador to the United States for Margaret Thatcher until 1982.

He also wrote books about history, about Eugen of Savoy, as well as his memoirs.
