Nicholas T. Kane

Nicholas T. Kane ( born September 12, 1846 County Waterford, Ireland; † September 14, 1887 in Albany, New York ) was an American politician. He represented the 1887 New York State in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Nicholas Thomas Kane was born during the Victorian era in County Waterford. His family emigrated during his childhood in the United States and settled in Albany. There he attended the community schools. He undertook in 1863 during the Civil War in the Union Army and served there until 1865. Afterwards he went commercial activities after. Between 1883 and 1885 he represented Watervliet in Albany County Board of Supervisors. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1886, for the 50th Congress Kane was in the 19th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Swinburne on 4 March 1887. He died, however, before the end of his term on September 14, 1887 in Albany and was then buried in St. Agnes Cemetery in Colonie.
