Nick Cassidy

Nick Cassidy ( born August 19, 1994, Auckland ) is a New Zealand racing driver. He won in 2012 and 2013, the total score of the Toyota Racing Series.

Career

Cassidy began his motorsport career in karting at age six, where he was active until 2010. In addition, Cassidy took at the age of eight years in a Midget Car Speedway to race part. He remained active until 2011 in Midget racing and won the 2010 Rating Western Springs Speedway.

2008 Cassidy debuted in Formula racing. He immediately won the winter series of Manfield Formula First. He then joined in the 2008/2009 season in the New Zealand Formula First and was named best rookie runner. Then Cassidy took part in six races of the winter series of the New Zealand Formula Ford. He won three races. In the 2009/2010 season Cassidy competed in the New Zealand Formula Ford. He won 8 of 18 races and was, again as best rookie, runner-up. In addition, he returned in the season for three races in the New Zealand Formula First, winning a race. 2010 Cassidy went with three races of the Australian Formula Ford at the start and was with a podium placing 15th in the driver standings.

2011 Cassidy initially joined for Giles Motorsport in the Toyota Racing Series, the highest single-seater series in New Zealand, at. After five podium finishes, he decided on the last race weekend two of three races for themselves. With 805 to 973 points, he defeated his teammate Mitch Evans and was runner-up. This time he was the best rookie. Then Cassidy has appeared in various racing series in New Zealand and went outside for the first time in Europe. First, he took part in two races of the Australian Formula Ford, where he scored a third place, in part. In the fall, he debuted in Europe and participated in an event of the ADAC Formula Masters and then on a race weekend of the Formula Abarth part. In both series, he scored points. Then he made his debut in the Australian touring car racing in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series. He took part in five races and was a tenth place as the best result of 31 the driver standings.

2012 Cassidy started the season again in the Toyota Racing Series, where he again received a cockpit at Giles Motorsport. He won five races, including the Grand Prix of New Zealand, and was ten times on the podium. He finished every race in the top eight. With 914 to 738 points, he decided the championship ahead of his teammate Hannes van Asseldonk for themselves. Then planned Cassidy with Fortec Motorsport Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup participate. After the first three events, he lost his cockpit. Later in the year he took part in two races of the V8SuperTourer, a New Zealand touring car series, in part. He scored a win. 2013 took Cassidy again at the beginning of the Toyota Racing Series part. This time he went for M2 Competition at the start. Cassidy won two races and stood at 15 races eleven times on the podium. With 915 to 803 points he won against his team-mate Alex Lynn. Then Cassidy was again no permanent commitment in a racing series. He completed two guest appearances in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and six guest appearances in the European Formula 3 Championship.
