Nick Manton

Nicholas Stephen Manton called Nick Manton, ( born 1952 ) is a British mathematical physicist and mathematician. It deals with topological field excitations in quantum field theory ( solitons, Skyrmions, instantons, monopoles ).

Manton in 1978 received his doctorate at the University of Cambridge with Peter Goddard (Magnetic monopoles and other extended objects in field theory ). and is a professor in Cambridge in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics ( DAMTP ).

He led in 1984 with Frans Klinkhamer Sphaleronen a topological field excitations are discussed as a possible mechanism of Baryonzahlverletzung.

Manton 1996 Fellow of the Royal Society.
