Nick Varner ( born May 15, 1948 in Owensboro, Kentucky) is an American professional pool player.

Nick Varner is considered one of the best all -around player of all time. He won world titles in all disciplines pool ( 8-ball, 9- ball, 14-1, One- Pocket and Banks)

His biggest success was winning the 9-Ball World Cup in 1999 and the U.S. Open (9 -Ball ), 1989 and 1990, He also represented Team USA at the Mosconi Cup six times. ; three of them as non -playing team captain.

Since 1992 he has been a member of the Hall of Fame of the Billiard Congress of America.

His nickname in the pool scene is Kentucky Colonel. He used the company Meucci cues.
