Nickolaus Hirschl

Nicholas " Mick (e) y " Hirschl (born 20 March 1908 in Vienna, † 10 October 1991) was an Austrian wrestler.

Hirschl, son of an owner of a kosher butcher, gymnastics initially at club Maccabi and then went to the Zionist -oriented SC Hakoah Vienna. He became involved with the Social Democrats and the paramilitary Republican Protection League. After a Nazi he shot in a park - according to other sources he injured him difficult - he fled to Palestine in 1934. During the Second World War he carried out commando raids against the Nazis in North Africa for the britischte army. 1947 Hirsch emigrated to Australia.

Hirschl won two bronze medals at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He was in the heavyweight division in both the Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle for Austria successfully. As a wrestler he fought Hakoah, moreover, together with other teammates, anti-Semitic attacks from, and thus served a protective function against the other sections.
