Niclas, Graf von Abensberg

Niclas von Abensberg (also Nicholas of Abensberg, * 1441, † February 28, 1485 at Freising ) was a German knight.

Life

Niclas came from the old Bavarian noble family of Abensberger. His parents were Count Johann III. of Abensberg and his wife Elsa Törringer.

In his youth, Niclas came to the court of Vienna Duke Ludwig the Rich of Bavaria -Landshut. Contemporary sources describe him as a brave and skilful in arms trade. Niclas took part in many national tournaments; at the Battle of Giengen ( Giengen ) in 1462, he distinguished himself. He had the oversight of Graisbach, Ried castle and Kelheim.

Even today, every year in his hometown of Abensberg his thought, because it once a year alms to the poor output donated that lasted until the 19th century. Forget, however, is that Niclas 1450 expelled all Jews from his lands and had to destroy the synagogue of Abensberg.
