Ñico Lora

Francisco Antonio Lora Cabrera (* 1880 in Maizal, † April 10, 1971 in Navarrete ), which was known under the name Nico Lora was a Dominican musician and composer, considered one of the fathers of Merengue.

Nico Lora, who never had a formal musical training, playing accordion since his teens. He composed a number of songs, which are now among the musical heritage of the Dominican Republic, including San Antonio, Tingo Talango, Eres la mujer más bella, Pedrito Chávez and San Francisco. In his honor the place La Plaza de la Cultura Nico Lora was named in Navarrete.
