Nicola Badalucco

Nicola Badalucco ( born May 13, 1929 in Milan ) is an Italian screenwriter.

Life and work

Badalucco grew up in Trapani. He studied law at the University of Palermo and worked for several years as a lawyer. In 1954 he moved to Rome and began to film magazines like Cinema nuovo and Bianco e nero to write.

1966 was Badalucco on journalism and turned to writing screenplays to. After a chance meeting with writer-director Luchino Visconti, he was given the opportunity to work with him and Enrico Medioli on the original screenplay for the film The Damned. For their performance they were awarded after the release of the film with an Oscar nomination. Following Badalucco and Visconti wrote the screenplay for the successful adaptation of Thomas Mann 's Death in Venice.

In the following years Badalucco wrote screenplays for over 30 films. He has worked with directors such as Mauro Bolognini Italian, Giuliano Montaldo and Damiano Damiani.

From 1982 to 1996 he was a lecturer for the subject screenplay at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome.
