Nicola Fago

Francesco Nicola Fago ( Il Tarantino, * February 26, 1677 in Tarentum, † February 18, 1745 in Naples) was an Italian composer of the Baroque.

Life

Fago was in Naples since 1693 students at the Conservatorio della Pietà de'Turchini. He was then from 1704 to 1708 as Kapellmeister at the Conservatorio Sant 'Onofrio, from 1705 to 1740 at the Conservatorio della Pietà d' Turchini next 1709-1731 at Tesoro di San Gennaro, and finally from 1736 also at San Giacomo degli Spagnuoli. Among his pupils were, among others, Nicola Sala, Leonardo Leo and Niccolò Jommelli.

In addition to several operas he composed church music, including cantatas, a Stabat Mater, a Te Deum and several oratorios.
