Nicola LeFanu

Nicola LeFanu ( born April 28, 1947) is an English composer.

The daughter of Irish composer Elizabeth Maconchy studied from 1965 to 1968 at St Hilda's College, Oxford University. She continued her education at the Royal College of Music, where she worked with an Oboe Quartet won the Cobbett Price 1970. Your ballet Rambert in 1972 was awarded the Gulbenkian Dance Award. A Harkness Fellowship in 1973 enabled her to study abroad at Harvard University.

In the 1970s LeFanu taught at St Paul 's Girls ' School and at Morley College, whose musical theater, she led. Later, she was a teacher of composition at King's College London from 1994 to 2008 Music professor at the University of York. She composed more than sixty works, including several operas, concertos and other orchestral works, chamber and vocal music, and works for solo instruments.
