Nicola Piovani

Nicola Piovani ( born May 26, 1946 in Rome, Italy ) is an Italian orchestra conductor, theater and film composer. He was awarded the Oscar for his performance.

Life

Piovani received his piano training at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, which he passed with distinction in 1967. Later he studied orchestral music composers Manos Hadjidakis the Greek.

From that time it was rumored that Nicola Piovani was a pseudonym for the well-known composer Ennio Morricone. In later public interviews Piovani could tell this story as a humorous anecdote.

Among his very popular works is the score to Intervista by Federico Fellini, his second of three collaborations with the Italian director. The other two are Ginger and Fred and The Voice of the Moon. Years later he composed a ballet titled Balletto Fellini.

In 1998 Piovani won an Academy Award for Film Music of Life is Beautiful Roberto Benigni his friend.

To date, Piovani has over 130 film scores composed, most recently for the German - French film Queen to Play.
