Nicolae Neacșu

Nicolae Neacşu (* 1924 in Clejani, Giurgiu County, † September 3, 2002 ) was a Romanian Geiger.Er was a member of the Roma ethnic minority and led the band " Taraf de Haïdouks " with which he was successful internationally around 1990 and gained special recognition for his improvisational technique.

Was in the Neacşu for its many Roma musicians ( Lautari ) known location Clejani born in Wallachia, near Bucharest and learned early to play the violin. For most of his life he lived in poverty and played with various bands at weddings and other local events. In the 1980s, the Bucharest musicologist Speranta Radulescu became aware of his talent and made together with fellow Swiss Laurent Aubert recordings of Neacşu in 1988 in France under the title " Roumanie: Musique Des Tsiganes De VALACHIE " were published.
