Nicolai Wammen

Nicolai Halby jowls ( born February 7, 1971 in Holbæk ) is a Danish politician and the Socialdemokraterne since October 3, 2011 Minister in the government of Prime Minister Helle Thorning -Schmidt, first as Minister for Europe, from August 9, 2013 as Secretary of Defense.

Life

The son of a journalist and a speech therapist studied after visiting the Brobjergskolen and Marselisborg high school political science at Aarhus University. Already during his studies he was active in local politics in Aarhus and between 1997 and 2001, both a member of the local city council and board member of the Aarhus Festival Week, the Aarhus Festuge.

After he unsuccessfully candied for a seat in the Folketing in the constituency Skanderborgkreds in 1998, he was first elected after completing his studies at the general election in 2001 as a deputy in the Folketing and represented there until 8 February 2005, Aarhus Amtskreds constituency. During this time he was also 2001-2004 financial spokesman of the Socialist Group.

Subsequently, he was elected to succeed Louise Gade for Mayor of Aarhus municipality and held this post until 2011.

In the general election in 2011 jowls was again elected deputy and since then represents the interests of the constituency Østjyllands Stork Reds in the Folketing. On October 3, 2011 him Prime Minister Helle Thorning -Schmidt called for Europe minister in the newly formed government of Denmark.

Since August 9, 2013 he is a Danish defense minister.
