Nicolas Adames

Nicolas Adames ( born December 29, 1813 in Ulflingen, † February 13, 1887 ) was the first Bishop of Luxembourg.

On August 25, 1839 Nicolas Adames was ordained a priest on 27 March 1863 he was appointed Titular Bishop of Halicarnassus, and Vicar Apostolic of Luxembourg. In December 1869 he took, as one of 744 part in the First Vatican Council in Rome.

On 27 June 1870, the Apostolic Vicariate of Luxembourg was raised to the bishopric and Nicolas Adames appointed bishop of the new diocese. His enthronement was on December 25. Our Lady in Luxembourg (city) The cathedral became a bishopric.

For political reasons, Bishop Adames was buried in the chapel Glacis.
