Nicolas Froment

Nicolas Froment (* 1435 in Uzès; ? † around 1484/1485 in Avignon ()) was a French painter.

Nicolas Froment is one of the most notable representatives of the Second School of Avignon.

He undertook to paint an altarpiece on February 12, 1470 in Aix for the widow Catherine Spifami; on the center panel of the Death of Mary, on the side panels, the St. Mary Magdalene and Catherine should be presented.

It has the painter attributed to a number of works that have arisen in his time, but none of these write-ups can be taken for granted. One of the most interesting work of this group is the " retable of Pérussis " at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
